If you have read any of my posts on this blog at all, my favorite male TB character should come as no surprise… It’s Eric Northman (followed very closely behind by Jason Stackhouse & Lafayette).
Eric is not only my favorite male True Blood character, but is my favorite vampire in the history of vampires (sorry Lestat, sorry Dracula, sorry CULLENS…. [actually, not sorry at Cullens…hahaha] but Northman has my devotion, not to mention my money should he ever be pitted in a cage match against any of you….)
Northman epitomizes everything VAMPIRE. He’s ruthless, he’s BEAUTIFUL, he’s equally as appealing when brooding or when in a good mood (although I prefer angry, brooding Eric…) and just overwhelmingly kicks whomever’s ass for whatever reasons he sees fit.
Side note, not only to I adore the character, but Alexander Skarsgard is brilliant in this role. He is the one who brings that character all of the nuances that make Eric, Eric. The writing can only take a character so far and Askars does the rest.
My favorite female character has always been a much more difficult (and close) race. Ultimately Jessica wins out, but only SLIGHTLY (like a strand of hair slightly) above Pam.
Not only beautiful (and – my GOD – is she beautiful) but the character shows such vulnerability and confliction regarding doing “what vampires do” that I cannot help but to just root for her on every level. I’m normally a “bad guy” fan in TV shows and movies, so this is an odd “favorite” for me to have… especially considering….
PAM. Pam’s cynical, sarcastic “I don’t give a FUCK” attitude about, well, pretty much everything except Eric and, now, Tara – fucking rocks. Her unapologetic acceptance of who she is, flaws and all, is endearing (“I was a whore in my human life, it wasn’t a coincidence”) – as I am someone who is pretty much opposite that and always try to hide or fix or work on what I consider my flaws. It would be a great relief to live so “accepting” of oneself.
So there you have it – - Northman, Hamby and De Beaufort – - best characters (IMO) on the show. CHIME IN AND TELL ME WHO YOURS ARE!!!!
