Week 5 record
10-4
Season record
27-17 (I started picks in week 3)
So I did ok last week. The Bears let me down, and I was a Romo interception away from possibly nailing my upset pick of the week. Let’s see if I can keep that good vibe rolling this week.
And here’s my week 6 picks!
New York Giants at Chicago
The Bears are coming off two losses in a row, both games that they were getting manhandled, only to make a late push for a comeback. The Giants are off to their worst start in a generation, and are trying to stop the massive hemorrhaging that is their 2013 season. This screams trap game, and if the Bears can’t get pressure on Eli, he can still make some throws. However, the Giants are just real bad right now, and I can’t see them getting their first win in primetime, in Chicago, on a short week. Brandon Jacobs is the starter for the Giants this week, and he was on the street three weeks ago. If the Bears defense doesn’t dominate this game, they’re in serious trouble.
Pick: Bears
Cincinnati at Buffalo
Cincy is coming off a big win against New England. The Bengals’ defense is for real, and Thad Lewis (who??) gets the start for the Bills. I just see Thad is in for a long afternoon.
Pick: Bengals
Detroit at Cleveland
Brandon Weeden is back in the driver’s seat for Cleveland. He looked ok coming in last week, but can he sustain it? Detroit’s defense is legit, and I’m not sure Weeden will do enough. The Browns’ defense is nothing to scoff at, and I think this game depends on Calvin Johnson. If he plays, Detroit wins. If not, the Brownies can take a note from the Packers, key on Bush, and shut down Stafford. It sounds as if Johnson is a game time decision, so I’m guessing even if he does play, the Browns defense can do enough.
Pick: Browns
Oakland at Kansas City
Both teams came off good wins last week. Kansas City looks good, but I can see them being in line for a let down. If this game was in Oakland I’d pick the Raiders. I wouldn’t sleep on them, though. I think the Raiders will make a game out of this.
Pick: Chiefs
Carolina at MInnesota
Which Panthers team shows up? The one that demolished the Giants, or the one that crapped their pants against the Cardinals? Cassel starts again even though Ponder is ok, and Freeman is waiting in the wings. That’s motivation enough for Cassel to play good enough to keep his job.
Pick: Vikings
Pittsburgh at New York Jets
Geno Smith actually looked like a NFL QB last week. Is this the corner for the Jets that they finally turn? Pittsburgh is coming off the bye week, and Mike Tomlin usually does well off they bye week.
Pick: Steelers
Philadelphia at Tampa Bay
So my heart wants to see Tampa win this game and keep the push for an Eagles 2-14 season alive. Last week I picked with heart even though I didn’t see the Giants winning. I can’t do that again this week, even though I’ll happily be wrong on this pick.
Pick: Eagles
Green Bay at Baltimore
This will be a tough game for the Pack on the road. No Clay Matthews this week, so Flacco should have a little more time to carve up the Packers defense. If he doesn’t shoot himself in the foot first (which he IS known to do). Hand the ball to Ray Rice, Joe. Good thing you found out that Larry Bird took your mighty wings, maybe now you can focus on not sucking.
Pick: Ravens

St. Louis at Houston
Oh, man. This game is a hard pick. Schaub is on the hottest seat of anyone I’ve seen, and St. Louis is hungry to get the ship right. Fisher should have this team motivated to beat a vulnerable Houston team right now, but will the Texans actually drop a game to the Rams? It might be closer than people think.
Pick: Texans

Jacksonville at Denver
Ah, the game of the week. HAHA! Henne is back at the helm for the Jags, and their offense definitely looks more like an NFL team with Henne in the driver’s seat. With that said, I don’t see any way the Jags make a game out of this. I give it a 50/50 chance that they even cover that ridiculous spread. I’ll call it again, I wear a dress in public if the Jags actually win this game.
Pick: Broncos

Tennessee at Seattle
For two weeks in a row if Tennessee has Locker, I might pick them. They don’t. They still have Ryan Fitzpatrick. And Ryan Fitzpatrick at home is bad enough, now you throw him in the middle of the 12th man? Yeah, good luck. Oh, and fuck you, Pete Carroll.
Pick: Seahawks

New Orleans at New England
This game is going to be a good one. New Orleans is looking like the most complete team in football, and New England is coming off a bad loss so Brady has something to prove. Usually the Patriots find ways to win these games, but I think New Orleans’ talent wins out this week.
Pick: Saints
Arizona at San Francisco
Arizona looked a little better last week, and San Fran demolished Houston. Kaepernick still didn’t light the world on fire, and I think Daryl Washington brings something to this AZ defense that can’t be measured. The 9ers look normal this year. Washington and Patrick Peterson make this difference this week. Upset pick of the week
Pick: Cardinals
Washington at Dallas
Romo threw for 500 yards last week. That means that because I’m picking Dallas he’ll throw for 179 and 4 picks this week. Oh, wait, Washington’s defense looks like a high school team.
Pick: Cowboys
Indianapolis at San Diego
Andrew Luck makes his MNF debut, and San Diego is usually a tough opponent on Monday nights. As much as I think Phillip Rivers is a sally, I can see San Diego pulling this out. I don’t think Luck gets rattled on the national stage, though. He seems pretty put together, and I think this game will be close.
Pick: Colts
Bye Week: Atlanta, Miami – (Finally!! Atlanta is on a bye so we don’t have to see them in a prime time game again!)
