We hear Klaus talking about the notion of good versus evil. He doesn’t believe in evil (of course he doesn’t), he believes that people do what they must in an unfair, cruel world.
Camille isn’t convinced, and wonders why Klaus is bothering with her. He says he wants her to write his story, because someone should and he has more important things to do, like rule New Orleans after he crushes Marcel. Klaus starts going on about vampires and witches and Camille starts looking horrified. He uses compulsion to quell her fears. She admits Marcel asked her to take his young, troubled female friend to a party in the Quarter but she refused. Klaus tells her to call Marcel and tell him she changed her mind. Because Marcel is hesitating in getting Elijah back to him, Klaus believes Davina is calling the shots.
Hayley gets bitched out by Rebekah for not taking better care of her baby. She agrees to go see a doctor out in the bayou, in the middle of nowhere, to shut Rebekah up. Rebekah uses a map to locate any and all shuttered attics in the French Quarter, desperate to free Elijah.
Davina asks Marcel if she can PLEASE go to the party, because she’s dying of boredom in the attic. Marcel shrugs her off until she causes his blood to boil. He reconsiders, agreeing to let her go under pretty heavy supervision.
Marcel takes Davina to the bar in the Quarter where all the action is. She is very, very happy, despite her decision to wear a dress that makes her look like a doll.

Except, of course, Marcel hovers. She tells him to get lost and hangs out with Camille instead. Camille, having been sufficiently programmed by Klaus, asks questions and uncovers Davina’s real reason for wanting to get out of the attic: a boy! (Shocker.)
The band finishes and packs up, and the boy - who used to be Davina’s classmate - takes off without a word. She wants to go right back to the attic, but Klaus slips Camille a fake napkin-note and tells her to give it to Davina, from the boy.
They sneak off to the church to meet, with Camille making it possible by helping to distract Marcel’s babysitter-thugs.
Hayley makes it to the middle of nowhere and the doctor does her thing. Hayley deflects a nosy question about her tattoo and wants to leave. There’s just ONE MORE THING, the doctor assures her. Hayley, not being a moron, senses trouble and looks out the window to see a lot of big guys climbing out of some fast-stopping vehicles. The doctor tries to give her pills but she indicates she’d rather have a shot. When the doctor starts bringing the needle down Hayley grabs it, stabs her in the neck, and locks the door. She has enough time to crawl through the window and run for it. (She’s pretty fast, too, I guess wolves don’t get morning sickness.)
Camille follows Davina and her boyfriend to the church and takes a seat in a back pew to watch him play the violin for her. Klaus sits next to Camille, in no apparent hurry even though at some point Marcel will begin to wonder what happened to his secret weapon.

Klaus is faster, though, and while Davina breaks all the windows - pretty impressive - Klaus hides on the balcony. He gets the phone call from Rebekah and, needing to save time, tosses the kid over the edge.
He makes a deal with Davina that he will save the boy’s life, but she “owes him a favor.” She reluctantly agrees. WHY do I get the feeling the favor won’t be rescuing Elijah?
He leaves just before Marcel comes running in, pretending to be worried about Davina and wondering what she’s doing in the church. She reminds him she lives there and stomps back to the attic. But, UH OH, she removed the dagger and didn’t put it back and Elijah is awake and feeling talkative. THANK YOU, writers.
Klaus makes it to the bayou in time to see Rebekah nursing her arrow wounds. Hayley is nowhere to be seen, but wait, she’s actually fine. Especially since the baby vampire-werewolf hybrid growing in her uterus is healing all of her injuries. Nevertheless, she collapses and Klaus heroically scoops her up and carries her to safety with Rebekah in trailing them grouchily.
Klaus shows up on Camille’s balcony, which is just not AT ALL creepy, and asks to be invited in. She does it, and he starts talking about taking away her nightmares and easing her pain and it takes her about two seconds to realize that he means to compel her to forget her suspicions about her brother and the church massacre.

Naturally, she’s horrified and begs him not to. She even accuses him of doing it simply to ensure her loyalty, which is dead on, and he even ADMITS it but sits her down and tells her lies anyway. He tells her she knows her brother was mentally ill, and that she will have sweet dreams filled with people who want to do good, and that HE will find out what really happened and punish any wrongdoings, and it was heartbreaking and sickening and SO TRUE TO KLAUS’S SELF-SERVING NATURE that I’m amazed anyone was surprised.
Let’s be clear, people. Camille is Klaus’s puppet. She serves a purpose, just as he would like Davina to do. Klaus doesn’t have people, he has pawns. He POTENTIALLY loves Rebekah and Elijah, and I choose to believe Caroline (but I’m probably wrong). That’s it. That’s the list.
Tune in next week to watch Klaus screw more people over in brilliant, twisted ways we haven’t thought of yet.
