Klaus has (kind of) asked for Elijah’s forgiveness for daggering him by offering him a girl to feast on. Elijah is less than inclined to forgive him, and they square off over the coffee table while Klaus reads “A Poison Tree” by William Blake. Rebekah comments that they’re letting the dead girl bleed all over the expensive rug, and promptly disposes of her.
Elijah sees Hayley go into the kitchen and jumps up to follow her, a move that doesn’t go unnoticed by Klaus. They make sex eyes at each other over the milk in her cereal.
Sophie is in the kitchen at Rousseau’s with a friend when they get attacked by guys in masks.

As it turns out, Agnes doesn’t want Hayley’s demon spawn baby to live, and plans to use the link to Sophie to cause a miscarriage. She believes the prophecy that Klaus’s child would bring death to all witches. She injects Sophie with a cursed object to make Hayley sick.
Hayley feels the poke and realizes her neck is bleeding. The Originals immediately realize they need to sever the link to Sophie, and Elijah has the idea to give Davina a page from Esther’s spell book and let her handle it, while letting her believe it’s an exercise to help her control her powers. Elijah delivers the page and promises that if she can do the spell successfully, he’ll let her choose her own page next time. Davina is excited and gets right to work.
Klaus and Elijah hunt down Sophie and demand to know where Agnes is. She doesn’t want to tell them, because she knows Klaus will kill her and Agnes is their only elder. Elijah explains she needs to help them take care of Hayley, since she got them all involved under false pretenses - or else. Sophie quickly agrees, probably because Klaus is more than willing to rip her spine out if she doesn’t.
They check in on Hayley. Sophie says they need a list of herbs and stuff to help slow the fever. Rebekah is appointed errand girl, and goes to steal the stuff from Katie’s shop. Marcel catches her and tries to ask questions, but she dismisses him.
Marcel has realized that Klaus hasn’t been staying at the hotel where he said he was, and as a result he’s highly suspicious of what The Originals have been up to. He decides to talk to the only person he feels he can trust, Thierry.
Klaus goes to talk to Father Kieran’s council about finding Agnes, who has gone into hiding. When Kieran asks why he should help, Klaus explains that Agnes put the hex on Sean that made him go crazy and kill everybody. Kieran kicks Klaus out, saying they need to discuss the matter.
Meanwhile, Sophie says they need to keep Hayley cool. Elijah takes her outside and gets in the pool with her to try and lower her body temperature. (Or raise it, if you ask me.)

Hayley’s obviously in pain, and it’s getting worse, when Davina comes through and manages to break the link/untie the big knot. Hayley relaxes, and it’s clear she’s going to be okay.
Elijah gets out of the pool (all wet and looking especially appealing) and Sophie begs him to keep Klaus from killing Agnes. He tells her it’s the last promise he intends to make to her.
Hayley stops Sophie on her way out of the pool and says that she understands wanting to save your family, but if Sophie puts her life at risk again she’ll kill her. She has her serious wolf face going, so I’m guessing she meant it.
Rebekah tells Elijah she only came back to New Orleans to make sure he was safe, and now she knows he is, and she has no desire to get tangled up in war. She asks him to leave with her knowing he won’t. She says she just wants to be free; Elijah kisses her cheek and tells her she’s free to leave if she wants to.
Of course, Rebekah is a hopeless idiot when it comes to love, and she can’t resist stopping by Marcel’s place to say goodbye to him. (WHY, Rebekah? The man had a choice to spend his life with you or become a vampire and he let you stay daggered for YEARS.) I mean, we all know it was less about saying goodbye and more about getting some, which is even worse. Actually, I think it was about Rebekah’s fear of being alone - she’s desperate to be with someone, anyone, and wanted Marcel to leave with her. She offers him an apple, because he used to love them, but he declines - they remind him of the plantation where he was a slave. He also refuses to leave with her, and she gives a big speech about an empire being worth nothing if there’s no one to share it with, and stomps off. Marcel takes a good look at the apple and UH OH, Rebekah’s desire for love fucks everybody again.
Elijah meets Klaus at the church, where Agnes is being held, literally, with Klaus’s hands at her throat. Elijah says he will forgive Klaus, but only if he can keep his word to Sophie that Klaus won’t kill Agnes. Klaus lets her go. He makes a comment about Elijah spoiling his fun. Elijah says that wasn’t necessarily his plan, and proceeds to rip out a bunch of hearts before telling Agnes NO ONE threatens his family and snapping her dainty witch neck. Wow.
At the plantation, Klaus’s mole is telling Hayley that Marcel suspects something, and everything is falling apart, and she’s like GO AWAY I’m pregnant and tired and don’t care. A few moments after he’s gone the doorbell rings again and SURPRISE, it’s Marcel, and he’s looking at Hayley like she’s a shiny new toy and says he doesn’t believe they’ve met.
Elijah gets back to the plantation and of course immediately wants to check up on his werewolf lady love, but she’s nowhere to be found.

After Klaus goes to tell Cami the witch responsible for killing her brother is dead, she screams at him for getting her involved in a murder conspiracy and wiping her mind and basically being a prick. He leaves the bar in a huff, not understanding why his brilliant plan to woo her failed, and runs into Marcel who looks AWFULLY chipper.
Marcel asks him about the hotel, and Klaus, sensing a trap, says he moved recently to a different location. Marcel says he knows, he visited earlier, and asks Klaus about his decision to stay at the plantation where Marcel was a slave. Klaus extends an insincere invitation to come on over.
Elijah calls Rebekah in a panic, asking if Hayley is with her. Rebekah’s like, WHAT I’ve been gone ten minutes and you lost the werewolf? (Maybe don’t give Marcel apples that are also clues, Bex.) Just as Elijah is coming to grips with this news, Klaus strolls in and declares that Marcel has been at the plantation. Not good.
