Katherine, thrilled to still be alive, is having a celebratory breakfast when the waitress comments on her hair. She checks out her reflection using the toaster and realizes she has a Rogue-like streak of white.

I’m not sure why, but Stefan keeps ending up back at Tessa’s cabin. He wakes up to find her watching over him in a creepy, ancient way. She tells him they’ve bonded over tequila. She’s in a great mood because she knows Silas is a witch/human again, and she can’t wait to kill him. When she tries to leave the cabin, she realizes Silas used a spell to trap them inside until sundown.
At the Salvatore place, Damon and Elena are cuddling on the couch, enjoying the solitude. In walks Silas, also in a great mood, because he’s looking forward to death. He suggests they get going to the warehouse in New Jersey where the anchor is. Elena and Jeremy want some kind of guarantee he’ll keep his word to bring Bonnie back when he finally passes on. Instead he reminds them he’s an insanely powerful being and puts an arrow through Elena’s leg to make sure she can’t tag along.
Katherine is in Caroline and Elena’s dorm room sporting freshly colored hair when Caroline comes in. Caroline is talking about how they have to pack and get out because of the warning Dr. Maxfield gave when she realizes it’s Katherine, not Elena. Katherine says she just needed a place to crash, and wonders about Caroline rushing off in fear when they could just question Maxfield about what he knows.

Caroline thinks it’s a splendid idea, and they pop into Maxfield’s lab to drain him of vervain and find out what he knows. He tells them about the “Augustine Vampire,” the vampire that killed Megan. He tells them the secret society is meeting that day, and they were planning to invite Elena until he suspected she was a vampire. Newly human Katherine wouldn’t have any trouble getting inside and investigating, however.
Once she’s there it becomes clear that she REALLY likes food. She’s cramming sandwiches into her purse and stuffing her face at the same time when Aaron approaches. They make some small talk, but soon Katherine spits out a tooth. She panics, and goes back to Maxfield to reveal her true identity. She tells him she’s Elena’s doppelganger, and she thinks she’s dying. She wants him to help. She’s also curious about the “test subject” from his recorder.
Elena, bored and alone at the Salvatore house, calls Stefan to check on him. Tessa answers, and tells her Stefan is showering. She drops some strong hints that she and Stefan had a VERY nice time, and a jealous Elena marches right over to check Stefan’s mental health.
Once inside the cabin, she can’t leave, which was Tessa’s plan. She calls Damon to let him know that if he doesn’t murder Silas by sundown, she’ll kill Elena.
Damon, Silas, and Jeremy have been searching crates the better part of the day, looking for the anchor. Damon breaks the bad news to Jeremy that the Bonnie plan is off the table. He isn’t willing to risk Elena’s life. He goes inside to try and kill Silas, but gets waylaid by a couple of angry Travelers. They start chanting, and he goes to attack one but his daylight ring isn’t working and he gets burned by the sun. After he’s pissed off it takes about two seconds for him to murder them.
He calls Tessa to bitch about the Travelers. She isn’t worried about Silas finding the anchor, because she’s convinced that even if he does he won’t destroy it. Damon gets a sinking feeling and sure enough, when Silas rips open the right crate he finds this:

Imara.
Tessa didn’t kill her, she lied to Silas and made Imara the anchor to the other side. Silas feeds her and she starts breathing again, but she’s not in very good shape - she seems to be hearing voices, and very disoriented. Did Tessa deliberately make her crazy, or was being trapped as a sculpture for two thousand years do the trick? Maybe both.
Silas takes her outside. He’s still in shock that he found her, alive, and tells her who he is. She recognizes him. She tells him she’s been alive because there was only one dose of the cure, DUH, and Tessa kept it for him. He holds her, probably thinking they can FINALLY be happy. Except he also tells her the cure is running through his veins, and she stabs him with some broken glass and sucks on his neck because she just wants to die. Ouch.
Imara wanders around outside the warehouse, lost and terrified, when she sees Damon. She asks him if he’s real. He responds by asking, “Are you?”
Elena is sitting by herself in the cabin, miserable, watching Stefan and Tessa laugh together while they fix dinner. She tells Stefan she knows he can’t remember, but he wouldn’t like Tessa. She takes offense and decides to call Damon, since it’s close to sundown. Stefan talks so that only Elena can hear (yay, vampire super powers!) and reassures her that he won’t let Tessa hurt her.
When Tessa gets off the phone, Stefan stabs her with a kitchen knife, screams at Elena to run (the sun went down just in time) and follows her out the door. He drops her safely back at the Salvatore place and they have a discussion about his instinct to protect Elena. (It must be lovely for Damon, who is sitting by the fire listening.)
As soon as Stefan is gone Damon tells Elena they have a big problem, and takes her to the car, where Imara is tied up in the back. She screams when she sees Elena. Nice, Damon, as if she wasn’t crazy enough.
Stefan returns to Tessa, who is PISSED. He offers to heal her, but she declines; she wants the reminder that he can’t be trusted. She says she was nice enough to relieve his sorrow (apparently the memory wipe was deliberate, and not a side-effect of the spell) but it was a mistake. She gives him back his memories - killing his father, forcing Damon to become a vampire, his Ripper days, the endless torture at the bottom of the quarry…it isn’t pretty. Stefan starts begging her to stop, but of course she’s already proven she isn’t a forgiving soul. We see him collapse under the weight of everything he’s been through.
It’s got to be getting annoying, keeping track of which doppelganger is which. I wonder what Imara will be like once she adjusts, and how forgiving Silas will be? What happened to Nadia? You would think Katherine would be able to crash with her long lost daughter, but maybe it’s too weird. What’s the deal with the Augustine Vampire? Will Stefan flip his humanity switch? (I would.)
