Although this was probably my least favorite episode this season (which doesn’t mean I didn’t like it), there were still plenty of awesome quotes, wtf moments, random thoughts, theories/predictions and questions. Plus, there were a few things that I wanted to do some research on.. Here are my random thoughts, observations and theories/predictions from this episode. Don’t forget to check out my recap along with my other episode superlative posts!
Random Thoughts/Observations/Theories
The letter being read in the opening scene is in fact a real letter that was sent to the New Orleans Police Department by the infamous Axeman in March 1919. Interestingly enough, no one was actually killed the night, as everyone either had jazz music playing at their homes, or they were out and about at dance clubs, where jazz music was playing loud. The majority of the Axeman’s victims were Italian American. His identity was never known. His crime spree abruptly stopped.
There’s nothing that will freak me out more than a Ouija Board. I’ve had a few “paranormal” experience in my life, but none of them being so crazy that I was absolutely 100% convinced it was a ghost except for the one experience I had with a Ouija Board. It was freaky, you wouldn’t believe me if I told you so I won’t, all I have to say is there is no doubt in my mind this thing works, and no not just because the planchette moved under our hands or because of something it said.. It was something it did. I never ever played one again after that, and had to sleep with the Bible on my bed for years and years after the experience.
I dont like Zoe too much, for more reasons than I can count. Seriously, I could do a whole post on it. Maybe I will.
The actress who played the 1919 coven witch Millie is Meryl Streep’s daughter, Grace Gummer
The magazine with Madison on the cover with the article titled “I do what I want” was a great touch! Reminds me of some of our current real life young Hollywood starlets.
Spaulding sure is obsessed with tea and tea sets.
Cordelia didn’t want roses in her room, she wanted chrysanthemums. She said for protection and strength. Interestingly enough, in America, chrysanthemums represent happiness. Except for New Orleans. In New Orleans, chrysanthemums represent death and grief. What does this mean for Cordelia? She is a witch living in New Orleans. Surely she knows that where she lives these types of flowers do not represent strength and protection. Right? Or am I looking to into this? I don’t know, but I do believe that Cordelia is going to get much darker.
So I am assuming that Cordelia can’t see Kaylee’s face in her visions of Hank and Kaylee. All she can see is the red hair. This has to explain why she isn’t putting two and two together.
Love how Misty is watering Myrtle lol. That was great. What was even better was Myrtle’s red hair sticking out of the dirt. I didn’t notice that on my first watch.
Now that we know Marie Laveau hired Hank six years before, it would mean that technically she is the one who broke the truce. Not Fiona cutting off Bastian’s head.
So I know that Ryan Murphy said that the hint for next season’s theme would be in the final scene of the last episode. But I can’t help but wonder if one was placed in this episode. There are fans who are hoping next season is going to be based on a creepy carnival of some sort (which would be super great). And Queenie mentions that the house is now a “carnival of crazy." I would love to see Ryan Murphy’s vision of a carnival. Make it happen Ryan!
For us True Blood fans, I totally think Denis O'Hare (Spaulding) channeled Russell Edgington when the coven girls were reading his mind. I so miss that character!
I predict that Madison and Kyle are going to bond over their both being resurrected issues. I see a new love story happening there. With Zoe stuck in the middle. Yeah, I think it’s going to happen.
Misty is looking for her tribe and the coven girls just ain’t the tribe for her. I predict Misty will find her tribe, and her tribe will consist of all those she has brought back from the dead… and then some.. So far, that’s Myrtle and Madison, but I’m going to throw Kyle in there too, even though he’s not a witch, and she wasn’t the one who actually did the spell to resurrect him, but she sure did heal his scars and take care of him. And don’t forget, just as Zoe resurrected him with her kiss, we see a glimpse of Misty. Somehow the two of them (Zoe and Misty) made a connection at that exact point, because Misty was pulled to Zoe and ended up in the back seat of the car. I hope Zoe wants to join in on that tribe, and Misty tells her to go find someone else to use.
