American Horror Story: Coven - Ep. 7 - The Dead- Superlatives - Random Thoughts and Observations

By V

This episode, like all, make my thoughts go wild!  Here we go!

Random Thoughts/Observations

That was a creepy ass doll in the tattoo parlor in the opening scene.  What the hell was that thing?

I thought that the scene where Kyle is realizing he has his friend’s tattoos now because he has their body parts was really cool.  Just because of the impact of that realization.  Some heavy shit.

Madison’s monologue was definitely one of my favorite monologues from this show.  Hers is the first that is a fave of mine that isn’t a monologue by any of Jessica Lange’s characters.  But there’s a huge difference between hers and anything that comes out of Jessica Lange’s mouth.  Jessica Lange’s delivery in anything she says is just amazing, and a lot of the time, her delivery is what makes the monologue a favorite of mine.  With Madison’s, it wasn’t her delivery at all, but the actual meaning in the monologue.  The writers were right on the money.  Kind of sad.  Loved it!

I was totally thinking to myself, when the hell did the Axeman get an apartment, when he first brought Fiona to that “shit hole.”

When Madison is talking to Kyle about being dead and being brought back and not feeling any emotions at all, she is actually emotional.   So she could get emotional over not being emotional I guess.  Okay, it works in AHS land.

I would be really creeped out if some guy watched me since I was six years old, thinking of me as his daughter, only to fall in love with me when I was an adult.  Stalker status.  Seriously, I get it, he was a ghost stuck in the academy, but he watched her sleep, watched her dress.. holy creepiness

Denis O'Hare did AWESOME making his character try his hardest not to spill the beans on Fiona.  Great acting!

Umm, so could LaLauries husband make it any more obvious that he was having an affair with Sally?  I mean, control yourself ugly.  Grabbing her ass at the table, casting adoring looks at her, blurting out his preference for the baby’s name.  He was an idiot.

I loved how the entire time LaLaurie was questioning her husband and Sally about the baby, she was staring at him.  I also loved the F-U smile she gave him after she invited Sally to help with her beauty regimen.

So I like to research some of the things they refer to on this show, and one this week was Sally throwing herself off the balcony.  Well, there actually was a slave of Madame LaLaurie’s who was only 12 years old, and she threw herself off of the roof to escape a beating by the real Madame LaLaurie.

Kathy Bates did an awesome job wearing the hurt and confusion all over her face, when she realizes Queenie brought her to Marie Laveau on purpose.  Love the actors/actresses who wear the emotions on their face.  Makes it so much more believable, and Kathy Bathes, like Jessica Lange, has that talent down to a t!

When Marie Laveau was applying her new beauty regimen, consisting of Madame LaLaurie’s blood, the lighting was such that it was a light/dark contrast directly down the middle of her body, starting from her head.  It was pretty cool looking, and I didn’t catch it on my first viewing, but on my second.

During the tattoo parlor scene, I found myself wondering how Kyle could appear so happy knowing he was being molested/raped by his mom.

So somehow the Axeman killed that man in the apartment sometime after he left the Academy but before he got to the bar.  And managed to get no blood on him.. Impressive.

I really like the dynamic between Kathy Bates and Gabourey Sibide.  I think they have really good chemistry and work well off of each other.

Evan Peter’s characters sure are lucky.  Season 2 his character had a love triange, with him (Kit), Grace and Alma.  This season it’s him, Zoe and Madison.

I’d love the hear what your random thoughts and observations were on this episode.  Please let me know here or on my other blog at www.mytruebloodandamericanhorrorstoryblog.wordpress.com

I look forward to hearing yours!
