American Horror Story Coven - Ep. 8 - The Sacred Taking - V’s Random Thoughts

Oh the things I think while I watch this show.  Here goes this weeks!

Random Thoughts

When the opening scene began and we saw Queenie walking alone at night, it didn’t even occur to me that it was set in present day. I obviously realized when Zoe and Madison showed up.

Fiona’s monologue in the beginning of the episode was so chilling and sad.

Fiona and Delphine are very similar, in which they have both done such terrible things in the past.  In my opinion what Delphine has done is a million times worse, but still.  They are both horrible people that have slight redeeming qualities about them. But if it weren’t for the actresses who portray them, I’m not sure how redeemable they might seem.  Take Delphine for example.  We could have had an actress who says “I learned how to make that for you” (or whatever she said) in a way that it was manipulating Queenie.  But Kathy Bates had that sad pitiful look on her face that just makes you feel bad for the character.  I can’t figure out if the writers are trying to redeem them or trying to confuse us.  Because right after she says that to Queenie, she spit out some racist bull shit to Marie.
Ugh, like seriously.  One minute redeemable, next minute despicable.

Cordelia’s burns have healed quickly.  I would think you would be in excruciating pain for weeks, considering just a surface burn hurts like hell.  Her attack has also caused her to grow quite the backbone.  She’s cold, to the point, not taking anyone’s shit.  I like this Cordelia.

Joan is batshit.  That’s all I have to say about that.  (You know you just said that in your Forrest Gump voice).

The threesome thing going on with Kyle, Zoe and Madison is just awkward and weird.  Madison and Zoe are complete opposites.  And for a girl who was just speaking last episode about how she feels nothing at all, Madison sure seems like she has feelings for Kyle.

The red cloaks and black laced veils the girls wore while performing the sacred taking were absolutely adorable.  Loved those veils!

Everything about the scene where Fiona sees Madison dancing around the room was absolutely beautiful.  The red dress, the camera angles, the fogginess of the scene, the song that was playing, the taunting by Madison towards “FiFi”.  Loved!

Wow Fiona powers are weak now.  She could hardly open that door with her mind.  All she could do was get it to open ajar.

Speaking of opening doors with your mind, Nan is able to do this now??!!!!??

Luke being locked in the closet reminded me so much of the Carrie movies.  That always creeped me the hell out.  But come freaking on, Luke is grown.  Ugh, this aggravates me cause you can’t try to get me to believe that he cannot defend himself against his mother.  Ridic.

Fiona looked so beautiful in the scene where she was “preparing the corpse”.  From her head scarf to her makeup to her clothes, she just looked gorgeous.

Queenie is definitely feeling quite guilty about turning LaLaurie over to Marie.  She went out of her way to get her a jumping jack burger, instead of giving her nothing or a piece of stale bread or something.

Like the Madison/Fiona scene, the scene in which the Coven girls are all sitting around waiting for Fiona to die, while Myrtle is playing funeral music on the piano was so beautiful.  The lighting in this scene was gorgeous.

When Fiona touched Cordelia, Delia didn’t see anything, at least that we know of, and I wonder if she actually did and stayed silent.  I wonder if she saw/felt her mothers pain from her illness.
