Thoughts on the episode:

Crane enlists the help of the Sin Eater (Henry) in traveling to purgatory so he can question Katrina about their son. She explains she left him with Grace Dixon (Abbie’s ancestor) and her husband, to keep him safe. She named him Jeremy, and of course she wasn’t aware that she was pregnant when she put Ichabod in the magical cave/time capsule.

Ichabod leaves purgatory, but is followed by a Golem, which was created as a manifestation of Jeremy’s rage and suffering. Apparently Grace died shortly after taking him in, and he ended up in an orphanage with a psycho caregiver who liked whipping & starving him. Jeremy, like Katrina, was a powerful witch and accidentally called on the Golem to kick some ass and protect him.
Crane is determined to find out how his son lived and if he had descendents, and he goes to a creepy carnival and meets four of the witches from Katrina’s coven - the women who condemned her to purgatory for the sin of saving Ichabod’s life. They seem to be leaning heavily toward the evil side of things in my opinion, but I mistrust people with bad teeth and WHOA BOY did these witches have scary dental issues. Anyway, they refuse to help but do a lot of talking and let it slip that only Jeremy’s blood can stop the Golem. Also, they murdered him because he refused to join their coven and couldn’t be controlled.

Crane realizes he can stop the Golem with his blood, and does, and Abbie and Henry stand around being accidentally intrusive while he mourns his son’s death while mourning the loss of Jeremy’s only friend.
Later, at the station, Moloch uses the mirror to visit Crane in a shadowy in-between place and make all sorts of grand and rousing threats, such as the one where Crane will give him Abbie’s soul.
Initially, I really loved this show. I still enjoy it, but the last few episodes have left me shrugging my shoulders. Crane learning about Jeremy was supposed to be heart-bending, but I think it fell sort of flat.
Abbie is definitely falling into the role of Crane’s side-kick, rather than a partner. He knows all the answers, and she’s along for the ride lately.
I can’t bring myself to worry about Irving’s daughter, though clearly we’re supposed to after the weird body-jumping demon thing said “we have a plan.” Maybe it’s because I strongly suspect she’s going to be a casualty of war?
I have no idea what Moloch’s plan to capture Abbie’s soul is, but I am interested in that. More Moloch, please. Or more of the Horseman, and how about just more menacing bad guys in general. Tree monsters and monsters made out of children’s suffering are just too sad for me. Lastly, how creepy was Jeremy anyway? I mean, his little doll was creepy, the Golem looked horrifying…if he lived, he may have joined Moloch as a bad guy.
