James Spader Bullshit - Golden Globes

As I predicted a couple months ago, Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston is pitted against the almighty James Spader for Best Actor in a Drama Series in the Golden Globes next Sunday.  If you’ll remember correctly, I predicted a Bryan Cranston win, not because I think it’s a justified, but because it was Breaking Bad’s last season, and is therefore the last opportunity the show/its actors will have to win awards for their work.  

I just took Buzzsugar’s Golden Globe Predictions polls, and once you complete it, it allows you to see where the voting lies thus far “amongst the people” and - - wouldn’t you know it - -Cranston is killing it in the Best Actor category by a whooping 54% of the vote compared to Spader’s 16%.  

While I’m not taking anything away from Breaking Bad/Bryan Cranston (and I actually can’t impartially weigh in on the subject as I did not watch Breaking Bad…tried to jump on that bandwagon when the show first “hit” and just couldn’t get into it….)  I think it’s a travesty that the brilliance of what I DO know to be Spader’s work on The Blacklist is being overshadowed more than likely because of his opposer’s show ending than actual side by side acting performance comparisons, with no prejudices being shown towards new show vs. ended show.

Guess we’ll see next week.  I can guarantee you this much, more viewers will watch next Monday’s return of the Blacklist than any episode of Breaking Bad from their final season.  And you can take THAT to the bank.

(One other piece of Globe juice is that should be interesting to see play out is that Modern Family and Big Bang are at 34% and 35% of the vote respectively for Best TV Series: Musical or Comedy…. I’m a fan of both shows, I adore Jim Parsons and think he will win again for his role as Sheldon but “Girls” surprised everyone by taking the Globe last year over the highly favored Modern Family so - - I think the Big Bang/Modern Family showdown will be a good one…….)  

Also?  Brooklyn Nine-Nine is up for best comedy as well (a great new show this season) but I was very surprised at it’s acclaim for a Globe already, not only for best comedy against the likes of Big Bang & Modern family but also Andy Samberg’s nomination for Best Actor in a Comedy Series (he’s awesome in the show but, he’s no Jim Parsons yet…..)  THAT would be an upset for sure, and I’m a Samberg fan!!
