So I’ve been MIA for a couple weeks. No, you sad sack Packer fans, it is NOT because the Bears lost in week 17. (Though the playoff loss to the 49ers was QUITE enjoyable)

Between my wife and I’s photography business, two new jobs, a friend having a baby, the holidays and a 3 year old, life has been pretty crazy. Now that the NFL regular season is over, I obviously won’t be having my weekly NFL recap. I will, however, be throwing out a weekly update in general. This week I’ll start on the NFL, recap a couple tid bits, and we’ll go from there.
I ended up finishing the NFL regular season with a 133-89-1 record. I started picks in week 3, so I finished above .500, and in my mind, that’s a win. Last week I went 2-2, hitting right on the Saints and 49ers, but missing on the Bengals and Colts.

Looks like the NFC is my league this year, too bad I have an AFC team winning it all. So here’s what my picks look like for the rest of the playoffs.
Divisional Round
Seattle over New Orleans
(P.S. - I still hate Pete Carroll)
San Francisco over Carolina
New England over Indianapolis
Denver over San Diego
Championships
San Francisco over Seattle
Denver over New England
Super Bowl
Denver over San Francisco
The Coaching Carousel of 2014 has begun!
Who’s out:
Greg Schiano – Tampa Bay
Jim Schwartz – Detroit
Schwartz can now take some time off kicking puppies and yelling at small children because after the monumental collapse of 2014, I don’t see him getting a job too soon.

Mike Muchak – Tennessee
I think Munchak got hosed. It’s not like he’s had a good hand dealt to him. Locker couldn’t stay healthy and he had to do most of his job with an underachieving Chris Johnson and a good-for-nothing Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Mike Shanahan – Washington
Leslie Frazier – Minnesota
Frazier will join Lovie Smith’s staff in Tampa Bay as a defensive coordinator. Good fit for him.
Wade Phillips/Gary Kubiak – Houston
Rob Chudzinski – Cleveland
Who’s In:
Lovie Smith – Tampa Bay
Lovie hired Leslie Frazier as his DC. I think that was a great move. Hopefully Tedford can be a real offensive coordinator for him, and also hope that Lovie has learned when to challenge a play.

Bill O’Brien – Houston
Romeo Crennel agreed to be Houston’s DC. Also a good fit, I believe.
Jay Gruden – Washington
Not sure I understand this hire. My guess is that you’ll be able to add this to the list of monumental failures by Dan Snyder.

Around the NBA
As the trade deadline approaches, the biggest story thus far is that of the Bulls trading Luol Deng to division rival Cleveland for Andrew Bynum and multiple picks. Bynum was waived, as expected, and this trade saves the Bulls roughly 20 million dollars. It looks as if the Bulls have accepted their Derrick Roseless fate and will start a rebuild for next season. Expect the Bulls to make a run at a top tier free agent with this being the last summer they’ll be able to afford it. Jimmy Butler has one year left on his deal, and he’ll need new money. Joakim Noah is also in line for a restructure.
I think this is a good step for the Bulls and I think they realize that next year will be the year they push for a championship.
There’s baseball news in January!

“The Big Hurt” Frank Thomas is now a first ballot Hall of Famer. Thomas was elected in his is first attempt along with Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine. Thomas deserved this honor, and as a Sox fan, I was happy to see him get in on the first ballot. For a player who played in the steroid era, and was clean throughout it, to put up the numbers he did was pretty amazing to grow up watching. While on the subject of steroid era, what’s up with the douchenozzle that didn’t vote for Maddux because he PLAYED in the same era? What an ASSHAT. Maddux had always been a consummate pro, as well as probably the greatest control pitcher of my lifetime, and maybe ever. It robs him of a unanimous vote, and that was a shame.
Alex Rodriguez had his suspension cut down to 162 games, meaning he will miss the entire 2014 season. Suck it douchebag! I hate A-Rod, and an egotistic, self-absorbed prick like that deserves a suspension for an entire season. The fact that he thought he could get away with doing steroids, then thought he could get his suspension dropped after he got CAUGHT, makes him a bigger idiot than I had previously thought.

I wonder when kids in this country will start seeing these baseball suspensions (Braun, A-Rod, Etc.) and start turning from baseball to football. I mean, in football if you beat a hooker, drive drunk, use drugs, use PED’s, or basically act like an asshole, you have a stiff 4 game suspension to look forward to.
