The Blacklist: Good and Not Good News!

image

By: Baby Z

So, we’ll start with the good news, although this really shouldn’t be a surprise, and that is that NBC has renewed the show for a 2nd season of 22 episodes next fall.

Additionally, according to tv.com, it appears as though The Blacklist is NBC’s highest rated drama in 19 years.  You read that correctly - NINETEEN!!

But we all know that with the good, comes the bad right?  The show is returning on January 13th (a very long 6 weeks from the fall finale) - - but it is only returning for THREE EPISODES.

And then NO MORE NEW EPS UNTIL FALL OF 2014 people!!!  While I’m beyond elated at the fantastic ratings and all the accolades so far that the show so righteously deserves, at the same time I’m so disappointed that we have to wait almost 8 months between seasons….

I’m not sure what role the winter Olympics played in there only being 3 new episodes in January, but I’m definitely not the happiest of Blacklisters tonight…

***EDITED TO ADD***
After researching a bit more, it’s still not completely clear what’s happening for the Spring season.  According to IMDB this season was slated for 22 episodes, and I did find one article that said the show will return for 3 weeks on January 13th, then go on a 1-month hiatus (Winter Olympics??) before airing the remaining episodes from March thru May.  Also mentioned often was James Spader’s scheduling difficulties due to his upcoming role as Ultron in the Avenger’s sequel.  So I really don’t have any concrete answers but I do have a little more hope that perhaps there’s just going to be an Olympic hiatus and not an 8-month one.
