AMERICAN HORROR STORY COVEN - HEAD - V’S QUESTIONS

By V

Sorry readers!! I know I’m late.. Like over a week late.  I have been so busy with Christmas shopping and wrapping and all that fun stuff, I didn’t even get a chance to rewatch until last night!  Very unlike me, I am usually rewatching the next night and working on my blog by the weekend.  Didn’t work out that way with this last episode, which stinks because I really enjoyed this episode.  So even though I’m a week and a half late with my superlatives, I’m still excited to post them and for you to read them and let me know how this episode ranked for you.

Here are some of my questions from this episode.  Some serious, some random, some just well me :)

Questions

So was the Chattahoochee Forest like a playground for witches?  Do they all flock there to get their spell on and that’s why Hank’s dad brought him there to hunt?

Is there a correlation between Delphi Trust and Madame Delphine LaLaurie?

Doesn’t Cordelia wonder where the hell Myrtle got the eyes from?

What did Myrtle mean when she said that there were secrets in the flames and she came back with more than one of them?  What secrets?? I want to know!!!!

Where the hell did Fiona get a dog from?

All of Hank’s shit fits in one box?

Marie Laveau can teleport??

How the hell did Hank’s father get pictures of Hank’s dead body so quickly?

Myrtle says Misty using mud was a metaphor.  Does that mean the “mud” is a ruse?  She uses her powers but makes it seem as though it’s the mud??

Why couldn’t Marie Laveau voodoo attack the Coven instead of hiring Hank to do it?

Who is going to find LaLauries head?

AMERICAN HORROR STORY COVEN SUPERLATIVES - HEAD - V’S LOL MOMENTS

Sorry readers!! I know I’m late.. Here are a few of my LOL moments from this episode

LOL MOMENTS

LaLaurie’s headless body swatting flies was priceless!

LaLauries talking head in the box was hysterical.  “Are you insane!” LMAO

Madison smoking in the hospital.

LaLauries head just sitting on the little table.  Awesome!

LaLaurie bursting out into “Dixie Land” when being forced to watch Roots.  *SIDE NOTE - I heard this was an improv by Kathy Bates and they kept it in.

AMERICAN HORROR STORY COVEN SUPERLATIVES - HEAD - RANDOM THOUGHTS AND OBSERVATIONS

So here are my random thoughts and observations, however weird some may be :)

Random Thoughts/Observations

The witch in the opening scene needed a shower.  And a brush.  And a washing machine.  She was super creepy looking.

Loved how that same witch protected herself by blowing the fire out of her mouth.

Fiona didn’t even acknowledge Queenie when she showed up at Corn Row City.

The scene with Myrtle and Cordelia talking and Myrtle telling Delia she would never have harmed her was quite touching.  The chemistry between all the actors/characters is phenomenal.

Once again, loved the music in this episode.  Especially the orchestra music during Hank’s walk to his fathers office, and also “Oh Freedom” playing during Hank’s attack on Corn Row City.

Delphi Trust.. hmm, sound familiar (Madame DELPHINE LaLaurie)..Wheels spinning.. Probably going no where, but interesting at least.

Hank using a credit card at the hotel where he killed Kaylee was so amateur.  Seriously, Hank, haven’t you ever watched True TV!

Hank looked really hurt when he found out his father was behind the blinding of Cordelia.  This episode proved to me that Hank does love (in some way) Cordelia.

Myrtle is straight up cray cray!

Holy lemon baller.  Will never look at one the same again.  Might never look at one again!

Myrtle was being quite the hypocrite when she called Fiona out for murdering Madison right after she murdered Pembroke and Quentin.

I’m liking this new strong willed Cordelia.  When she tells Myrtle she needs to treat Fiona with respect because she is in fact the Supreme, I was shocked that she would actually stick up for her mother.

LOVED the hat Madison wore to the hospital.  Where can I get???

I cried when Joan sang to Luke and pulled Nan to her.  Of course my tears were short lived, but it was a sweet moment none the less.

Love how Queenie is trying to educate LaLaurie, instead of trying to torture her or burn her head as ordered.

Love the chemistry between Cordelia and Misty.  They are like bff’s in real life, and their chemistry really shows on screen.

Holy shit, it was Hank at Misty’s!! I didn’t think it was him, since they were disguising him.

I was really surprised when Laveau told Queenie to burn LaLauries head.  She never wanted to kill LaLaurie, just torture her with immortality. Now she has a total change of heart.

AMERICAN HORROR STORY COVEN SUPERLATIVES- HEAD - V’S WTF MOMENTS

So here are my WTF moments from this episode:

WTF

The Corporation was behind the blinding of Cordelia - Wow!  Out of all the guesses I had, the theories, the speculations, this was not one of them.  Of course it wasn’t, who knew this Corporation even existed!  Still, this shocked me, as I was expecting it to be someone we already knew, like Joan, who was suspiciously MIA during the blinding of Cordelia (MIA meaning she was not at home because Luke was able to chill with the coven girls and voodoo zombies that same night).  Totally surprised, was convinced it was Joan.

Myrtle’s revenge against the Counsel - Holy craziness!! Seriously, Myrtle came back from the dead with some evil ass intentions.  This scene was frightening (as Myrtle hoped) and the delivery of each and every one of her lines was fantastic!!  She seriously appears to be completely insane at times, going off on rants then answering herself then telling herself no more chit chat.  LOVED this scene and Frances Conroy and everything about it!!!  Oh and let’s not forget about how she was fabulously dressed in a white dress with the red accents.  PERFECT for the sweet beginning of the scene to the absolute evil at the end.  This scene has made me now understand why everyone raves about Frances Conroy.  I am now a fan like you all :)

Hank’s voodoo attack - It’s about freaking time!!  Yes it’s about freaking time someone f’d with Hank, but I’m talking about how we finally get to see some real voodoo action!! Not just Queenie self voodooing herself!  This scene was also awesome, with Laveau just voodooing the shit out of the doll that represented Hank.  I want to see more voodoo!!!!

Hank shooting up Corn Rows City - Wow!  This was definitely the craziest most gut wrenching sad scene in this entire season, maybe the entire series.   Although Hank did what he did to protect Cordelia, it was still kind of hard to watch, as he kills every one at Corn Rows.  With Oh Freedom playing as this white man runs up into this salon, killing every one in sight, and at the same time LaLaurie finally understanding how despicable of a person she really was and how wrong she was for what she did to those poor people, this scene was extremely terrifying and sad.  And powerful.

Queenie sacrificing herself -  There are so many other bloggers who do not like this character, but I’m not one of them.  Queenie has a heart, she is very forgiving, and she does what needs to be done to protect her friends and fellow witches, whether it be voodoo or coven witches.  Yes, she turned LaLaurie into Laveau, but come on.. LaLaurie deserves everything that comes to her.  Yes Kathy Bates makes her redeemable, but she did horrible things, and Queenie doesnt want revenge on her.  She just wants her to educate her.  Queenie did not have to sacrifice herself to save Laveau, she had already been shot in the stomach and for all Hank knew, she was dead.  But no, she saved Laveau and more than likely killed herself in the process.  It was a selfless act and for her selflessness, she, in my mind could have possibly been the next Supreme.

American Horror Story Coven - Ep. 8 - The Sacred Taking - V’s Lingering Questions

Another week, another list of random lingering questions that might or might not have much relevance but my crazy mind is wondering.

Questions

How did Cordelia’s face heal so quickly?

How old is Luke supposed to be?  Seriously, he looks 19-20, but acts 10 when it comes to defending himself to his mother.

Considering the rumors and hopes of some fans for next season, was Fiona telling Myrtle “Life’s a Carnival” a hint to next season?

What exactly was the point of performing the Sacred Taking?

So what exactly is a clan of watchers, as Spaulding put it?  More like stalkers.  The Axeman should have been part of this clan.  Is the clan dead or was he referring to his family being the clan?  I’m so confused.

Is Hank that bad of a shooter that he missed Nan and shot Joan two times, or did he mean to shoot Joan?

Could Joan be a witch?

Who was the shooter in Misty’s cabin?  I doubt it was Hank, they wouldn’t have made the effort to disguise him since we are on to him.  Hmmm.

Was Misty teleporting everywhere this episode?   First when the shooter appeared in her cabin, her and Myrtle disappeared.  Next, when they are sitting in the room waiting for Fiona to die, she was there that whole time, even there when Fiona walked in (you could see her in the background) but next second, she’s gone (to Joan’s house after the shooting).

Why did Misty faint after resurrecting Joan?  We have seen her do it before, and that never happened, why now?

Why was Hank using silver bullets?  Does it have the same effect on witches as it would on werewolves and/or vampires?

American Horror Story Coven - Ep. 8- The Sacred Taking - V’s Random Awesomeness

I’m sure everyone agrees that this episode had quite a few random awesome moments and LOL’s.  The following in my opinion are the most note-worthy.

Random Awesomeness

Any scene where Queenie is self voodooing is awesome.  I love that power, it’s so unique!

The internal camera view of Queenie ripping out that guys heart = Holy awesomeness!  That was so cool the way they did that, and at first I had no idea what the hell I was looking at!  Such a crazy creative idea and kudos for it turning out great!

Loved how Misty was watering the plants in the background of the greenhouse scene, while Myrtle and Cordelia were discussing Misty being the next Supreme.  Love that character and actress!

Loved loved Loved Myrtle’s smoke infested voice!  Francis Conroy did a great job at pulling that off!

Cordelia’s vision of Misty burning, sinking through the mud, and reappearing through the mud like she was never burned was amazing.

Myrtle stealing Fiona’s jewelery was hysterical.  Loved that little touch!

Kyle’s reaction when Zoe placed the headphones on his head was so incredible!

Fiona’s eye roll after Misty fainting was  amusing and so Fiona like.

American Horror Story Coven - Ep. 8 - The Sacred Taking - V’s Random Thoughts

Oh the things I think while I watch this show.  Here goes this weeks!

Random Thoughts

When the opening scene began and we saw Queenie walking alone at night, it didn’t even occur to me that it was set in present day. I obviously realized when Zoe and Madison showed up.

Fiona’s monologue in the beginning of the episode was so chilling and sad.

Fiona and Delphine are very similar, in which they have both done such terrible things in the past.  In my opinion what Delphine has done is a million times worse, but still.  They are both horrible people that have slight redeeming qualities about them. But if it weren’t for the actresses who portray them, I’m not sure how redeemable they might seem.  Take Delphine for example.  We could have had an actress who says “I learned how to make that for you” (or whatever she said) in a way that it was manipulating Queenie.  But Kathy Bates had that sad pitiful look on her face that just makes you feel bad for the character.  I can’t figure out if the writers are trying to redeem them or trying to confuse us.  Because right after she says that to Queenie, she spit out some racist bull shit to Marie.
Ugh, like seriously.  One minute redeemable, next minute despicable.

Cordelia’s burns have healed quickly.  I would think you would be in excruciating pain for weeks, considering just a surface burn hurts like hell.  Her attack has also caused her to grow quite the backbone.  She’s cold, to the point, not taking anyone’s shit.  I like this Cordelia.

Joan is batshit.  That’s all I have to say about that.  (You know you just said that in your Forrest Gump voice).

The threesome thing going on with Kyle, Zoe and Madison is just awkward and weird.  Madison and Zoe are complete opposites.  And for a girl who was just speaking last episode about how she feels nothing at all, Madison sure seems like she has feelings for Kyle.

The red cloaks and black laced veils the girls wore while performing the sacred taking were absolutely adorable.  Loved those veils!

Everything about the scene where Fiona sees Madison dancing around the room was absolutely beautiful.  The red dress, the camera angles, the fogginess of the scene, the song that was playing, the taunting by Madison towards “FiFi”.  Loved!

Wow Fiona powers are weak now.  She could hardly open that door with her mind.  All she could do was get it to open ajar.

Speaking of opening doors with your mind, Nan is able to do this now??!!!!??

Luke being locked in the closet reminded me so much of the Carrie movies.  That always creeped me the hell out.  But come freaking on, Luke is grown.  Ugh, this aggravates me cause you can’t try to get me to believe that he cannot defend himself against his mother.  Ridic.

Fiona looked so beautiful in the scene where she was “preparing the corpse”.  From her head scarf to her makeup to her clothes, she just looked gorgeous.

Queenie is definitely feeling quite guilty about turning LaLaurie over to Marie.  She went out of her way to get her a jumping jack burger, instead of giving her nothing or a piece of stale bread or something.

Like the Madison/Fiona scene, the scene in which the Coven girls are all sitting around waiting for Fiona to die, while Myrtle is playing funeral music on the piano was so beautiful.  The lighting in this scene was gorgeous.

When Fiona touched Cordelia, Delia didn’t see anything, at least that we know of, and I wonder if she actually did and stayed silent.  I wonder if she saw/felt her mothers pain from her illness.

American Horror Story Coven - Ep. 8 - The Sacred Taking - V’s WTF Moments

I only had three real wtf moments this episode, but three that are definitely worth noting!

WTF

Joan’s cruel and unusual punishment for Luke canoodling with the Coven witches - Can we say extreme? A bleach enema.  WTF.  And Luke didn’t put up much of a fight.  It definitely appeared as though this purifying procedure has been performed before, probably on Luke.  He knew exactly what she was going to do.  I flinch and shudder every time I think of what it must feel like to receive a bleach enema.

Maria Laveau chopping off Madame LaLauries hand. - So before we get to my next wtf, we cannot forget the wtf we said when Marie Laveau cut off LaLaurie’s hand with one chop.  Many of us probably already knew the spoiler (dont worry, past spoiler, already happened this episode) of my next wtf, so when this happened I was surprised.  What I loved about this scene is that the whole time Marie and Delphine were bickering, Delphine still had her jumping jack burger in her hand.  Not the hand Marie cut off.

LaLauries decapitated head - Ok, so this twisted surprise was teased/spoiled by the cover of Entertainment Weekly a few weeks back, so I knew this was coming.  But it was still a wtf!  I wonder what Fiona will do with it!

American Horror Story Coven - Ep. 8 - The Sacred Taking- V’s Favorite Quotes

With Ryan Murphy penning this episode, there were bound to be a bunch of great quotes.  And there were.  Here were my faves from Ep. 8, The Sacred Taking

“Aww boo friggin hoo, you switched teams because girls were mean to you?  Fiona slit my throat, you don’t see me bitching out.” - Madison to Queenie

“Do me a favor.  Die before Thanksgiving, so none of us have to suffer through that mess of raisins and Styrofoam you call stuffing.” - Cordelia to Fiona

“What the hell happened to the staff in this house”. - Cordelia

“Poor choice of words girl, but given my wretched appearance, maybe it’s a good thing you’re blind as a butter knife.” - Myrtle to Cordelia

“Oh little bird, I’ve been buying in bulk from Korea for years.” - Myrtle answering Nan’s question about her hair

“She’s brought back more people from the dead than Jesus Christ.” - Myrtle about Misty

“She rather reminds me of you in your youth.  Think as a pin with a dreadful case of the me me me’s.” - Myrtle to Fiona speaking about Madison

“Because you have no style and your pits smell like fish sticks.” - Madison to Nan about why Madison thinks Nan cannot be the next Supreme

“Now you’re proud?  Hell, if I knew how easy it was to win your approval I would have made an attempt on your life way before now.” - Cordelia to Fiona
